The Happy Book Co

The Happy Book Co is a local independent trader for Usborne Books at Home and School, recently passing the 5 year point for my small business! I work in various capacities in the north east: delivering book orders safely to local customers, collaborating with local businesses such as Littley Bay, providing a contactless pop-up bookshop service and storytelling sessions; as well as working with schools both locally and across the UK. In 2020 I was hoping to work with yet more local schools, expanding to secondary schools, including Monkseaton High School, before the pandemic took over and lockdown imposed. As we move forward into the new school term, we hope to continue to raise vital funds with school communities, to enable them to purchase new books as well as donate extra books, all without using school budget. We have just launched “Virtual Events” which we hope will enable Usborne authors to inspire pupils remotely, as well as host reading events to promote reading for wellbeing and learning, all via video call and email. We take the work out of it for teachers and provide all resources and promotional material. I really hope to be able to work with schools again in person eventually!
