New vehicles look gleaming in the showroom but the process to get them from factory to dealer can be complicated. Vehicles are transported by rail, boat and road then stored in compounds where damage can occur. The weather and industrial fallout also has a part to play. This can result in delays in transporting vehicles to the dealership and therefore to the customer. Damaged vehicles are repaired to manufacturer’s standards to new condition. In-transit damage cost is estimated at approx £150million a year across Europe.
