Business Chambers

Businesses across North Tyneside are represented by several organisations… Business Chambers provide a voice for businesses, as well as supporting and promoting. They are usually a good way of connecting with other like-minded businesses in the same area.

North Shields Business Chamber

The Chamber is the main representative voice of business in North Shields; with over 150 businesses currently members of the Chamber, it can and does make a real difference to businesses based here.  It is a not-for-profit organisation.

The Chamber works with a number of strategic partners, including North Tyneside Council, North Tyneside Business Forum, Invest North Tyneside, Invest North East England, North East Local Enterprise Partnership, the Police and the various transport operators to ensure that North Shields is an attractive place to do business. The Chamber sits as an executive member of the North Tyneside Business Forum and is a member of North Tyneside Retail Task Group.

In addition to working with businesses, the Chamber gives talks and information to local schools; it also works with local charities and not-for-profit organisations to promote their activities across our community.

The Chamber is run by an Executive Committee (all of whom are in business in the town and who voluntarily give their time to the Chamber), which meets regularly to discuss a range of matters which affect the town.

Members’ meetings take place approximately every six to eight weeks at a variety of venues.in North Shields.

The Chamber is committed to promoting businesses, whether in the town centre, the Fish Quay, the port, the marina, the retail parks, the industrial and trading estates, the office parks or Tynemouth; and to making North Shields an attractive place for residents and visitors.

Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade

The Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade inspires, connects and supports businesses, services, organisations and charities within Whitley Bay, Monkseaton, and Cullercoats. We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation which works hard to improve our towns economic prosperity and represents Whitley Bay business interests on both a local and regional level. The support we offer extends to both established and start-up businesses alike.

We strive to encourage the development of trade and commercial activity in the town, the overall promotion of Whitley Bay and its immediate trading areas.

The Chamber is a dynamic organisation in Whitley Bay which makes a real difference to businesses based within the town.

We work with many strategic partners including North Tyneside Council, North Tyneside Business Forum, the local Police Force, the Elected Mayor, the local press and Nexus to ensure that Whitley Bay is an attractive place to conduct your business. As a result, we are able to give you early notice of matters that may affect you; and raise with these bodies, matters of concern. Our communal voice carries more weight than a single voice.

We host bi-monthly meetings and often invite a representative of relevant local bodies to our meetings to give a short talk and to discuss matters of interest to members.

We are a partner in the North Tyneside Business Forum, which supports businesses across North Tyneside, and we are also members of the North Tyneside Town Centre Task Group, which helps to determine retail plans for our towns in North Tyneside.

Through our affiliation with the North East Chamber of Commerce, we have access to information and resources of the NECC.
